Ashley grew up in Fort Mill, South Carolina. She attended the College of Charleston, graduating in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications. After graduation, Ashley worked for the National Basketball Association (NBA) before enrolling at the Charleston School of Law in 2004. While attending the Charleston School of Law, Ashley was an active member of the Moot Court Board and was a Quarterfinalist in the American Constitution Society’s Constance Baker Motley National Moot Court Competition.
Upon graduating from the Charleston School of Law in 2007, Ashley worked for a civil defense firm, where she practiced under some of the best civil litigators in South Carolina. In 2010, Ashley went to work for the Solicitor’s Office where she primarily prosecuted drug cases, crimes against children and violent crimes. During her time at the Solicitor’s Office, she successfully tried over 50 cases in General Sessions and also became certified to conduct forensic interviews with children.
In 2019, Ashley left the Solicitor’s Office to open the Cornwell Law Firm, LLC.
